Night Terrors...

We have seven children, only one has experienced night terrors. All were breast-fed, all are happy. Our fifth child started having night terrors several years ago and is currently aged: 8. He gets them when he is stressed or hasn't eaten, typically. Episodes last 5 to 7 minutes, starting around 11-12pm. He is very slightly built as was I when I was young. I suffered from severe Charlie-Horse spasms of the legs. Last year I began taking calcium with daily vitamins and have not experienced any spasms of consequence since. So, when my son got the flu this last week and started having terrors each night, I gave him a 400% daily recommended dose of calcium. That night, though he still had a fever, he did not experience any problems. Perhaps calcium is worth trying since we know it is stripped from the nerve endings when under stress. This might be a very easy and comfortable solution. I am not suggesting a cure, only a path of action. Night terrors are no fun. Sincerely, M.
