I had endometriosis for 8 years before I found a wonderful, patient gyno who hung in there with me. After exhausting all other possibilities (avoiding invasive surgery, if possible) he did a laproscopy and burned off around 30 places of endo. However after a couple of months the pain came back. So, since BC pills had controlled the pain for a while before, he put me back on them for 2 months just to make sure it was hormonal. Indeed it was linked to ovulation. He performed a hysterectomy on me and found that the uterin muscle was growing into my uterus. Since I've recovered, I've felt as though I have my life back! No more pain. But I am 45 and didn't want any more children. I couldn't believe that the doctors could let me go on for that long and suffer like I did. When my current doctor was testing me for everything under the sun for a few months, he did put me on Lortabs...so I always had a lifeline. It was the only thing that would stop the pain. Good luck and ask around for a "listening" gyno with a caring attitude.
