Mariana: My 18 month daughter was diagnosed at 4 months with nystagmus, after an ERG (electro-retino-gram) was performed in December, her doctor determined that she has motor nystagmus and he found no problems with her retina. He has scheduled her for surgery in March and will perform a Kestenbaum procedure to correct her 60 degree head turn. Her doctor is a pediatric ophthalmologist at Vanderbilt University Hospital and he seems confident that the surgery will help her cosmetically as well as in school. Have you heard of any other precedures performed to help children with motor nystagmus? Or have you read about or heard of the reputation of the Ped. Ophthalmologists at Vanderbilt? Thanks.
