My 60 yo brother was diagnosed with emphysema over a year ago. Recently he has gotten much worse. He had a major episode and wound up in the ER where he was told only 10% to 15% of his lungs were functioning and he was lucky to be alive. He was placed on prednisone and got relief. 2 days later, a pulmanary doctor said his lung capacity was up to 25% and he has the lungs of a 150 yo man. BUT..........he says my brother would not qualify for Social Security and that he is still capable of working a little. My question is just HOW BAD DO YOU HAVE TO BE BEFORE YOU QUALIFY FOR SOCIAL SECURITY. Thanks
