My father was of the unlucky one who was initially diagnosed for cancer of the head of pancreas due to the narrowing of the bile duct shown on the ERCP. A series of all test were carried out. Both the surgeon and the physician confirmed 98% that it was cancer. The operation called the Whipple's Surgery was carried out. The gall bladder, 1/3 of the pancreas, duodenum and part of the stomoch were removed as a result. After the surgery the surgeon enlightened us that it may not be cancer as the pancreas was all hardened. Further analysis confirmed that it was not cancer but sever chronic pancreatitis. He was on insulin and now that the little pancrease that he has is resuming its work and off goes the morning insulin jabs routine. I am sincerely seeking pancreatitis patients who has or hasnt carried out any intrusive corrective surgery. I am also interested to know what procedure was done to diagnose pancreatisis. Thank you.
