I was diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome in 1994 with a vaginal ultrasound. As a result, I've been unable to get pregnant, despite fertility treatments and IVF. With PCO, I am told, there is an increased risk of ovarian cancer. I subsequently follow up with my OB-GYN every 6 months. I have not had any difficulty during ovulation or intercourse. I often do not ovulate and have ammenorhea if not on B/C pills. My suggestion would be to obtain a second opinion and/or further testing to determine that you indeed have PCO.
