I had scarlet fever twice when I was a child, but was never diagnosed with rheumatic fever. Throughout my life I have experienced recurrent joint pain that was written off as growing pains. I am now 27 yrs old and am still experienceing these recurring attacks of pain and for a longer duration. Is it possible that this could be a complication from the scarlet fever or could I have actually had rheumatic fever without it being detected?
