I would have the cataract treated for the right eye. I would also take 1mgm of Vitamin B12. 1mgm cobamamide is a pre-cursor and is better absorbed than B12. or if your physician agrees an injection of B12 every month or two is an alternative. Serum B12 and auto-immune anti-bodies can be estimated if one wants to ensure a more scientific base to this. It is a big subject and age-related macular degeneration is dealt with in'The retinal pigment epithelium'edited by Marmour and Wolfensburger 1998 P716. Obviously, I know you will be under specialist care and should confer with him. Best wishes.
