                        I gave birth 21 months ago to my first child and no fibroids were detected (before or after his birth).  Last week I went to my GYN for my annual exam and he told me that he found one fibroid.  Two days later I went to have an ultrasound and the doctor found that I have several fibroids.  I will have surgery in two weeks to have them removed (this is scary).  My doctor says that if I plan on having more children I need to have the fibroids removed right away.  He says that right now the fibroids are very small, but the longer I wait to have them removed the larger they will become.  He says there is no guarantee that the fibroids will not return and eventually I will have to have a hysterectomy.  I do want more children but I wanted to wait until my son was at least 4 or 5 years old.  Now I find that there is a chance that the firboids will return before I am ready to have a  another child.  I am 28 years old.
