I am a 31 yr old female; my first collapse took place in 1988 I believe. My most recent occurance was just this last November - but in the other lung! The first time, I had the tube, suction etc, but this last time it reinflated on its own over a few days' time. Tomorrow I am having a CT scan, as my respirologist for some reason wants to look for emphysema. None of my research has turned up a link between the two, but who knows! I am also very thin and active. Isn't it frustrating to hear "It just happens sometimes"? And it is very frightening, because it can happen again at any time. I think the emotional issues surrounding this go almost completely unacknowledged, which is too bad. I have a young daughter, and don't like being afraid to run around with her. And this emphysema business is bad news all the way around. I'll keep you posted if there is any link found. Thinking good thoughts for all of you!
