HI! I had the surgery about 4 1/2 years ago, and it wasn't too bad. The laproscopic incisions are just a few inches long. I have one in my belly button, one a few inches below the breast bone, and 1 under my right rib cage. They healed rather quickly, but be careful...you can't lift anything, bend over, do housework or move around very well the first week, but by week two things were much better. I want you to be careful with the surgery because the excess bile that your gall bladder used to take care of has nowhere to go, so bowel movements are painful, burn and are like a runny diarreah when your liver gets overloaded. You will also have to watch your fat intake...it's not processed as well and weight comes on easier. You will have more difficulty with intestinal cramping, and food doesn't 'sit' as well as it used to. Try and see if you can find some more natural treatments or medication to help you keep your gall bladder. The side affects aren't pleasant!!
