Dyspraxia

Christine

Message 1 of 1

My son was diagnosed with Dyspraxia at the age around 3. He is now 4. I never thought I would hear him say more than 10 words. He is making very slow, but steady progress. He is now talking in sentences. It is still hard to make out some of him words, but he has come a long way. There is now cure for Dyspraxia but the earlier a child is treated the greater chance for improvement. Dyspraxia is an immaturity of the brain resulting in messages not being properly transmitted to the body. There are alot of different problems caused by dyspraxia. Speech delays, fine and gross motor delays, sensitive to touch, cannot answer simple questions even though they know the answer, impatience, clumsiness etc. Not all of these will apply to every dyspraxic, and many of these problems can be overcome in time, but could also be met by more problems. I am still learning more myself about Dyspraxia. Feel free to write back.
