I'm a teacher in a grade center with k-2, and I have pink eye as of last Mon. It was confirmed by my doctor and I was instructed to remain home from school 5-7 days. I was given drops for my eye and a decongestent (Claritin)tablet for my cold. The next day I learned that another teacher's child was diagnosed as having pink eye and was told that she could return to daycare the next day and that it was absolutely ridiculous for her to stay home. I'm sure my doctor was protecting the children I come in contact with, but I feel like a wimp, because my Principal called yesterday asking if I felt better and asked if I'd be back to school today. I've had pink eye before and was given the same advice as now. Why is there so much difference in treatment?
