My mom had a brain aneurysm in 1990. The dr. sealed off the aneurysm with a rubber band type procedure. She does sometimes forget faces or little things not important but most of the time, she really has a good memory and it is remarkable what can be done. The first week after surgery she did have stroke symptoms and was also put on a drug to prevent seizures for a week. Now she is not taking anything and leads a normal life.
