I have an uncle (74) who had polio at 18 months. He has been very active and strong all his life, despite an effected right leg and arm. He has fallen and fractured his right hip. What is the prognosis of hip surgery? He is in intense pain now and the fracture does not seem to be healing on its own. His family doctor feels surgery won't help.
