I have had symptoms for around 2 months. Tingling, pain and numbness in my thumb, forefinger, middle finger and inside of ring finger reaching all the way up into my elbow and arm. I believe I may have had minor symptoms earlier but didn't put it together. I finally got in to my PCP (Dr.). I've also had swelling in my ankles and a few extra pounds that came from nowhere. I've been an avid exerciser for about 5 years now. I do cardio and weight lifting 5 days a week. My doctor was more concerned about my ankles than my hands. He didn't even examine them. I asked what I needed to do for the pain in my hands and he told me I'd have to change my lifestyle. Quit lifting weight. This has been just awful for me. The pain is slightly better though. I can now, on a good night, make it through without waking up with terrible pain. My self esteem sure is taking a beating though. I feel like I can't do anything for my-self, where just 3 months ago I was very, very strong. My husband jokes that I'll never leave him now. Who will open the door to let me out? I don't think he really understands though. I have an appt. with a neuroloigist this Thurs. I hope I can learn more. I still need to make sure its CTS and not something else. I even have pain in my elbows, knees and ankle. My blood work all came back normal so it's not RA or Lupus or hypothyroid. I don't know if it's better or worse for nothing to show up in your blood work. At least I'd have an answer. Too many symptoms. I'm just getting frustrated. I know it hasn't been very long but when your so proud of being strong and healthy and doing everything to stay that way it's a really bummer when something like this rears its ugly head and bites you in the butt!!
