I received a phone call from my doctor today telling me that they have seen papillary cancer cells in an ultrasound guided needle biopsy of a complex nodule in my thyroid. This has been the worst day of my life. I am so scared. They would like to do surgery and remove half of my thyroid and after making sure that it is cancer remove the other half. Is there any chance that the lab results don't necessarily indicate cancer? I am very scared and having a difficult time accepting this whole thing. I can't sleep tonight and my heart is racing a 100 mph. Anyone have any encouraging thoughts for me?
