I am wondering if anyone knows about the ramifications of progesterone therapy in a first trimester pregnancy. I've been told that progesterone only drops if the baby is not well and miscarriage is impending, although wondering if levels can drop with a healthy pregnancy if mom was dealing with menopausal symptoms for a few years prior to this pregnancy. This is our 13th pregnancy. I had my first 6 kids without any problems. The 7th was a miscarriage as well as the 8th (twins this time) the 9th was healthy, the 10th miscarried again, the 11th I had some cramping I believe around the 6th week, at which time I pressed my Dr. for a second progesterone test which showed that my level had indeed dropped very low. I was put on progesterone for about 2 weeks and we now have another beautiful baby boy 14 months old. Now I am 5 weeks pregnant with our 13th and am very nervous about the chance of another miscarriage. I'm wondering how much progesterone can really help. My Dr. seems reluctant to use it. Thanks bb
