non-small cell lung cancer-adenocarcinoma, stage 4

My 66 year old father was diagnosed with non-small cell lung cancer-adenocarcinoma, stage 4-because he has multiple nodules affected in the lung. However, it has not spread to any other organs. He has four more radiation treatments to finish his six weeks treatment plan.   He is very tired and has started to lose weight these last couple of weeks.   The megace has helped keep his appetite, however it has become more difficult for him to swallow. He has other health problems, which at present time, seem to be under control.   They are diabetes and congestive heart failure.   Please can anyone tell me what to expect. I think if I knew more what to expect, I could deal with him better.   I know the radiation is not a cure, however I'm told it can shrink the cancer, and possibly put it in remission. They told me they would wait one month, after the six week and do x-rays to see the results of radiation.     Does this mean he might have a chance of beating this, or at least some quality time left? Can anyone out there help? Thanks in advance, Dale
