Hi Denise I also have had Lupus for 10 yrs. I have had kidney, lung, joint, liver and skin involvement, have been on numerous medications, IV doses of Prednisone, chemo, etc without much relief. The only thing that really works is Prednisone but the side effects are awful. I have checked into disability as I work also as an RN and it's getting too much. My understanding is you have to apply and most people are turned down initially but still re apply or get a disability attorney to walk you through the process.. It's very difficult you have to have major organ involvement and not have worked in 2 yrs. My problem is i'm off for 12 weeks every 10 mos or so but recover enough to go back to work. I have also never been on dialysis thank God... Good Luck to you, It doesn't hurt to try
