Insomnia

MEREDITH: You should see a Dr. to see if they can rule out things first, such as a low-level of depression which could cause insomnia. Take a hot bath or shower about an hour before bedtime. Go to bed & get up at same times, as much as possible with being a student. Do u exercise? If not, try that but not at night. Walking is good in late afternoons. Remember that sodas have caffeine, too. Try a form of self-hypnosis...count backwards from 50 and think pleasant thoughts when the worrying starts. Excessive worrying and thoughts might be a sign of GAD, general anxiety disorder or again, depression. Also, try listening to meditation tapes. For me, whathelps is to listen to talking in background on TV or radio...but no commercials. Actually, the TV stimulates the brain by the lighting that's constantly going high or low on screen. Try an aspirin or two before bedtime, if you can take aspirin wiht no problems. Have you tried any of the calming teas on the market? There is a medication for Restless leg syndrome and it might also help you sleep, it is called Clonazepam. Good luck and let me know how you do.
