Post surgical problems

My significant other is a 72 year old male who underwent seed implantation surgery for prostate cancer. The cancer is gone, but ever since the surgery he has had trouble urinating. His original surgery was in May. He was sent home with a catheter. In April he underwent further surgery to determine why he cannot urinate. The problem is especially painful at night when he lays down. They did not find anything wrong in April (they thought it might be a blockage). In May they operated again to put the catheter in from the top of the bladder to give the bottom a chance to heal properly and he would be able to urinate with the catheter in place as he healed. He was told that he had a "wrinkle" in his bladder. It has been one month since his last surgery and he is able to urinate a little, but not fully empty his bladder and he is still experiencing the same problem at night -- like something is pinching off. Can you tell us what this condition is called and if there is any solution as his doctor isn't offering him any. He is not able to do any exercises due to the catheter and therefore, cannot strengthen his muscles.
