I have RSD since 1995, if it is not treated within the first 3 months or so then it will take longer for anything if anything will help. Unfortunately, I wasn't treated at first so now I am learning to live with it, there is one web site that you can check out and it's really great for treatments, etc, it's www.RSDHOPE.org that site is fantastic with treatments, questions that you may have, and it's made from people who have RSD and did a lot of research on it. RSD does have other names too now. I was on duragesic patch it is fentyal, works great for pain, but can't be out in the sun for long periods of time, so I am now on methadone, which is working great too. Not only do I have RSD, I also have a lot of problems with my back and legs whereas I can't walk more than a block or so, but was told rsd didn't hit there yet. My rsd is in my upper right hand, arm, and shoulder and knock on wood it hasn't spread since 1996 or 1997, and I was told by top of the line doctors that when I go for my back surgery, the RSD will not spread to my back and legs. But check out that site, it is wonderful and full of knowledge. Good luck and take care
