When I first got PMR, almost 2 yrs. ago, the doctor put me on 50 mg. of Prednisone. Within 3 days most of the terrible pain I was in was relieved and then gradually the prednisone was decreased. I was very grateful for it but it does have side effects which are not very nice. I am now on 6 mg. a day and am attempting to drop it to 5 but have been unable to do this for the past 6 months. I have heard tht the disease has a 2 year course but some people have had it much longer. It is very important to be under the care of a good rheumatologist who will regulate your dosage of Prednisone. It is also very important that you not drop the dosage too quickly. I tried that and had to go on to a larger dose in the long run. Hope you get well soon!
