I was diagnosed with Polymyalgia Rheumatica in Nov and treated with prednisone. Periodically, my sedimentation rate is checked in order to reduce the dosage of prednisone. It seems that I STILL have great pain in my upper back and hip; howver, my doctor says that it cannot be from the polymyalgia. He thinks it is a more usual form of arthritis. The pain and its location (between the shoulder blades) makes me suspicious. I would like to hear from others who have been treated for this disease. Did the pain go away immediately and completely? How long might I remain on a maintenance dosage of prednisone? Thanks
