I, too, have a goiter on my thyroid. It was diagnosed after I had lost a good bit of weight. My doctor at the time thought the combo of the weight loss and this 'mass' on my throat could be cancer. I had a CAT scan, 2 ultrasounds, a thyroid uptake scan and numerous blood tests, which all show that my goiter is just that, a goiter. It is about the size of a walnut, and I was told that it has calcified, or hardened, because I had it for some time and never had taken medicine to treat it. That was 2 years ago, and now I go in once a year for blood tests to regulate my underactive thyroid. I have since put back on some of the weight I lost, I think due to the stress of all the tests I had done. I am now 33 yrs. old and a mother of two. Right now my doctor lowered my dosage to .1 from .137 and I feel fine. Having a goiter is very self-concious for me. I notice I wear a lot of turtlenecks in the winter, and mock turtleneck t-shirts in the summer. I hope everything works out for you. God Bless.
