I have recently been diagonosed with having Mylodysplasia. I am 21 and I have been told that my condition at the moment is stable. The doctors are unable to provide me with a progression time as the disease is quite rare and they do not have a great deal of statistics. At first I was very scared, however, the more I visit my doctor/specialist which is every month the more I learn and comforted I feel. They said that as soon as my condition deterioates they will carry out a bone marrow transplant. I am very worried about what that involves, yet if it prevents me from getting leukemia then I will do anything. I understand that bone marrow transplants have been quite successful in the past. I am currently at university, I have struggled as a result of being told I have this disorder yet I am getting my feet back on the ground now. I wish your mum all the luck. How is she coping?
