I find the best relief is a warm washcloth . Wipe the eyes, one at a time with two different washcloths. Use warm water. This gets the "crust" out without putting you in more pain. Stay away from eye drops, they will only irritate it more. This is a virus, it gets contracted by touching someone infected, then you touching your own face. Wash your hands well after using the washcloth. The infection will go away on its own in roughly ten days. Good luck.
