i had my tonsils removed 4 years ago at the age of 41 and it turned out to be the worst decision of my life. four days after the surgery, my throat burst open and i nearly bled to death. after cauterizing my throat for about 30 minutes, the bleeding finally stopped. as a result of either the surgery or the cauterization, i have a swallowing problem which cannot be corrected. whenever i eat, food gets caught up in the post-nasal area and i choke on a daily basis. also, i have not been able to taste salt or sweetness ever since. i previously had continual tonsil problems, which obviously i don't now, but if i could turn back time, i would NOT have the surgery.
