barbara did you have anything that caused the scoliosis to excell like polio, ms etc. I had polio by the time of 12 I had a 90 degree curve on both upper and lower. If it weren't for my daughter I wouldn't have had the surgery. It was very painful. I personally went through Halo/thermal traction,then surgery with two harrington rods I was in the hospital a month and a body cast 9. I was 29 at the time and I am 51 one and it just still getting worse. If you are in pain try chiropractic if not your spine will eventually fuse itself. The pain either was is difficult but I still try to stay active with my family and home, church anything else I can help with let me know. There is few Dr that do adult women surgery make sure you get a good one and if the put you in a body cast make them put in bra cups. I don't think I would have done it now. Good luck dee
