I would like to share some good news. The application of the dietary advice of wheat exclusion and fresh food diet has put my rheumatoid arthritis into remission. The book that I read was 'A Doctor's Proven New Home Cure for Arthritis' by Giraud Campbell. Articles n 'Cinics in Rheumatology' in the 1980's reported transitory benefit from diet. Theoretical basis lies with HLA antigens,auto-immunity induced by Salmonella, Shigella and Yersinia bacteria in the colon. Molecular mimicry is involved also. We should not be surprised when one thinks of the global interest in H. pylori and duodenal ulcer etc, We need another Dr. Barry Marshall with the same energy and dedication to draw attention to this. There could be a pharmacological answer, though I am very pleased with the diet. Finally, imagine my amazement when repetive strain injury affecting my left thumb also resolved after dietary changes.
