Melanie, No one really knows why some people get Morphea. My daughter, Diana, also had it two years ago. She was treated in Birmingham for about five months and released. Her doctor said she is a success story. He has the only treatment in the country which is a special UVA 1 light. It stopped the progression of her disease. As far as the scarring goes, or the loss of hair, I'm not sure there is a way to correct that. I have a cousin in New Orleans who is a Plastic Surgeon and we took Diana to him to see if he could do something for her. He said he could but that it is risky because it could re-activate the disease, so we have decided not to do that. If you need more information e-mail me God bless you! Audley
