I had a perianal fistula that was in "the worst location a fistula could be". For me, the pain from the wire gradually decreased but did not go away until after the wire was removed several weeks later. The procedure did take care of that fistula, but I then developed another fistula from the wound. (I understand this is very rare, though.) Hang in there! Get a good doctor that you can trust. And, remember that this won't last forever!
