For some it does end. However, I have had PMR for five years, even though my doctor said it lasts 2 years. And everytime I reach the 5 mg dose of Prednisone, there is another flare. The 5 mg seems to be the magic number- below it and the pain, stiffness, etc returns. Also, the same thing happens with every Prednisone taper. I am on 8 mg now and have been for about a month, but still feeling the pain. My doctor tried tapering every two weeks, then for one month, now it's two months. But everybody is different. And I also heard PMR goes away suddenly. I am still waiting. Good luck to all you all. I hope it goes away for you, just as quickly as it came.
