I had phlebitis 12 years ago in my right leg. Since then I have suffered from swelling in both feet and ankles, but it is much more severe on on my right side. I have been told that the swelling is probably a result of wearing ill-fitted shoes. I went to a foot doctor who told me that I have a bunion on my right foot. However, because of the my history with phlebitis, he will not do surgery. I would like a second opinion on weather surgery on my feet could be dangerous and cause my phlebitis to reoccur. Also, will my history of phlebities present a problem if I ever needed any other type of surgery?
