Your doctor can prescribe strong medicine for the pain. There is a wonderful drug called allopurinol which will definitely PREVENT future attacks (does nothing for the attack in progress) and you don't have to follow any particular diet. Diet was only necessary before allopurinol became available. Also, it is generic, therefore cheap.
