Spontaneous pneumothorax is not something I am familiar with. I am an RN (neurosurgical). One thing I can tell you though is ALWAYS get more than one opinion especially with news like that. Medicine is a science and they are forever experimenting and learning new things. I appreciate your husband wanting some dignity with this "terminal" disease but he shouldn't give up. You need to take him to several specialists (pulmonologists) before coming to a final conclusion. Good luck to you....
