I would get a second opinion. My grandmother had a detached retna. It was only slight but considered serious and had immediate surgery. After surgery she was fine. The doctor said left un-treated she could have lost her sight in that eye. This was many years ago and she never had any problems after the surgery and recovery was done. I hope this helps. Good luck.
