Gallbladder surgery isn't the ordeal it used to be. You can have laser surgery to remove it, and this is done through several small incisions -- so healing time isn't prolonged. I was driving a car 6 days after surgery, and some people drive even sooner -- although don't rush the recuperation too much. It still is a major operation -- just not a great bit incision any more.
