when my husband had kidney stones, his urologist used a proceedure that my husband claimed was quite pleasant! The Dr. placed him in a warm tub of water, gave him a set of headphones so he could listen to music, a mild relaxant and then bombarded the kidney area with sonic waves. The sounic waves broke the kidney stones into sand which my husband was able to easily void with his urine. Ask your Dr. about this.
