I can only imagine the stress you and your child must be under; I'm so sorry for your difficulties, but I'm sure someone will come along with some helpful information. Has your child been tested for autoimmune diseases - for example, lupus (SLE - discoid), lyme disease? Have you done any international travel since just before your son's illness started? Have you consulted a rheumatologist? A rheumatologist can test not only for autoimmune disease, but for lyme disease as well. And the Western Blot test is not always accurate - it is only accurate in approximately 30% of lyme cases. I had seen a physician who specialized in lyme disease when he was practicing in Toms River, New Jersey. He has since moved his practice to the State of Washington - his name is Dr. Patmas if that is any help to you. Prior to becoming a physician, he was a biologist and he truly appeared to know his medicine very well. Lyme disease can cause sking discoloration and rashes as well as neurogenic/cardiac symptoms in more advanced stages. Also, I have recently found that there are separate tests for Erlichiosis and Babesiosis (similar to but somewhat different from lyme disease) which are not necessarily detected with a Western Blot test. I will keep you and your son in my prayers. Best of luck - hang in there.
