YES! Have had such a thing happen exactly how you've described many times over many years---"anxiety attack" incorrectly trivializes what it is; though it IS caused by a biochemical response to stress, disstress, and emotional turmoil. All those things raise our cortisol levels, which set off a chemical chain reaction thru-out our endocrine system, which cause a wide variety of problems that can be harmful to us if continue. Our bodies are responding with pain and dysfunction to a chemical reaction to our stresses. They are signals that SOMETHING'S got to change or we will become more ill. I suffer from one such dibilitating, and difficult-to-treat Syndrome because A)passed off as insignificant and B) went on too long w/o proper diagnosis, and therefore too many experimental "magic" pill remedies that only added to the chemical cocktail. DR.s want to give it a quick, common name, like "anxiety", and either give you a "magic" pill (which will set off something else) or treat you symptom by symptom with accompanying "let's see what this does" medications! I'm a mess because of all of the above. You Should get a cat scan, and blood work to rule out all the possibilities, and you can e-mail me at A2ns1E@aol.com and I'll give you info. I've had to learn on my own. God be with you. Anne
