I also have this condition in both of my eyes. Other then my vision being slightly impared (I wear glasses and see well thru my right eye that is only slightly affected), there are no other symptoms and my lifestyle is not altered at all. Keratoconus progresses diferently with every patient. Vision can be corrected with hard lenses and there is also a brand new treatment called Intacts. This is a procedure done at UCLA in Los Angeles, CA that was originaly used for patients with myopia and it has now been implemented for keratoconus patients. I am curently looking to see if I would be a candidate for this procedure. You can find more information about this at www.uclaser.com Corneal transplant is done most often after every other option has been explored. If it needs to be done the success rate is very high and patients vision can be improved so their lifestyles are not impared.
