Barb: I also have fibromalgia. My life is now wonderful. I take 5 mg of Ambien at 9:30 at night and by 10:00 I am sound asleep. When the alarm goes off at 6:00 am, I am ready to get up. The deep sleep is wonderful and helps my muscles rest. I tak 20 mg of Vioxx in the morning before I go to work. I have a postive attitude....I also have a high stress position, I am an HR Director and I work 10-12 hours per day. When I get home I am exhausted and in one big know. My husband has learned exactly where to apply pressure on my neck and shoulders to ease my pain. He rubs my neck and shoulders every night!!!! Otherwise, I couldn't manage the pain. My doctor is very good. I was afraid to take Ambien because it was a 'sleeping' pill and I could be addicted. So what, he said. People take insulin, blood pressure medicine, chemotherapy, to help keep their body healthy. He said I needed the sleep Ambien provided me every single night so that I can funtion as normally as anyone else during the day. And he is right. Yes, I have aches and pains off and on during the day, but so does other people who don't have fibromalgia. That's part of life. I'm lucky and I thank God that he gave me a disease I can manage rather than one I couldn't. Best to you.
