Hi Shar- Hope you are feeling better. I agree about a slow taper. Every time my Dr. speeds it up I get a relapse. I was on a monthly taper (7mg daily for a month; then 7mg a day and 6mg the next day alternatly for a month; then 6 mg daily for a month. That was when I had another relapse- at 6 mg. I am now back on 7 mg (for the last two months) and waiting to hear from my Dr. about what's next. He gave me a Medrol Dose Pack for six days on top of the 7mg of Prednisone. It helped ease the pain, but did not give me the energy I hoped for. I am 67 years old, but believe I have had bouts with PMR before they had a name for it. When I was 51 I had pains in my thighs and the Dr. put me on Naproson, which helped for a while. On my own I had started taking Aspirin and that helped until the most recent episode. When I was 44 I had a high sedrate and fatique as well. I always needed extra rest even though I worked full time and took college courses as well, until this last bout. I always took care of myself and was not overweight when PMR struck. (Now I'm overweight, having gained 30 pounds from the Prednisone. However, lately there have been a few good days, when I have a little more energy. Although those days are followed by fatigue, etc. Have you heard of anyone who has been cured? I haven't as yet. Ida
