Polymyalgia and Prednisone

Hi Ida, I'm so glad to hear that you are feeling improvement on your low dose of Prednisone. I think you will notice your energy returning as your body adjusts to the lower levels. I know it's not easy when we continually force our bodies into getting used to lower doses. I always notice an increase in fatigue when I lower my Prednisone, but then it levels off. I am at 11mg now, and I plan on tapering it to 10.5 on this coming Sunday. My foot bone is healing nicely, and it looks like I won't need surgery. I saw the orthopedic doctor today and had X-rays. I will stay in the hard cast for 3 more weeks, and then go into a walking cast. The doctor was optimistic that all is going well even though the medicines I am on do not promote quick healing. Since he prefers not to doing surgery on me because of my RA meds, he is being conservative in his treatment of my broken bone by keeping me in the hard cast 3 more weeks. That's okay with me. I don't need the possible complications that could come with surgery. It's so good to hear from you, Ida! I am happy that you are feeling better than you did a while ago. That's a blessing. Take good care. Post soon. Shar
