Hi Claudia and all. You were asking about side effects of Prednisone. I became sick in Sept of last year and was diagnosed with PMR in late Nov. I begain taking steroid treatments early in Dec. I started with 12mg. Within three weeks my face had rounded and in the following weeks my neck, back, and middle puffed up. The side effects came very quickly for me. I have reduced the amount three times and currently I am taking 4mg. every other day. My weight has not changed with the reductions. I am 5'1" and normally weigh 115-120. Today I weigh 162. I'm wondering when the weight starts to go away. I'm only 55 years of age which is quite young to have this. After reading from all of you I guess I'm having an easier time with this. But there were days that I could not do my job because I couldn't move my arms, and there were days that I could bearly walk, so I do know of the pain. As I read all the postings, I don't recall anyone talking about pain medication to make the bad days bearable. My Dr. does let me have pain med. but I only take it 2-3 days a week. I think my age and the fact that I was in good health, also I worked out regularly, has been a factor in my improvment of this condition. I'm sorry for any one that has this condition. We need the support of each other just so we know that we are not alone. Last Nov. was the first I'd ever heard of PMR when I found out that I had it.
